Contrary to what we might think, lemongrass has nothing in common with lemon, except for the root of its name! Also known as Indian verbena, lemongrass is a grass native to Sri Lanka with long leaves. The fragrant stems of the plant have been known and recognized since ancient Egypt<\/a> for their therapeutic virtues. A few centuries later, it is in Asia that lemongrass will charm the palate with its fresh and acidulous taste. Despite this, its use in perfumery will be late. Its powerful essence will appear in compositions in the 90s, mostly in masculine citrus fragrances<\/a>.
