Hyssop is an aromatic plant found in Mediterranean scrubland environments. This small shrub with purple and blue flowers is considered a sacred herb in the Catholic religion. Mentioned in the Bible, hyssop was part of purification rituals and is still used today to consecrate temples. Also known for its medicinal virtues, hyssop, in fumigation, was used to fight against the plague. In its natural state, the plant gives off a persistent odor with a sweet lemony scent. After distilling the flowering tops of the plant, the perfumer obtains an essential oil with great aromatic<\/a> power.
