Amyris is a plant little known in the West, native to Haiti and China. Its name comes from a Greek word meaning “strongly fragrant”. Indeed, this small shrub delivers a very perfumed resin. However, it takes about 30 years for the plant to produce enough resin to extract an essential oil. This rare essence diffuses a woody and rich scent. Its smell is close to that of sandalwood<\/a> and that is why it is also called Haitian sandalwood. It also reveals light and exotic nuances that make it very easy to associate with many ingredients.
