The guaiac is a tree native to South America. It is found more particularly in Paraguay and Argentina where it is commonly called “wood of life” because it is extremely resistant and dense. It has been used for thousands of years to make furniture, toys and bowling balls! Excellent anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic, its resin is also recognized for its numerous therapeutic virtues. In perfumery, it is from the 60s that the essence of guaiac titillates the nose. It is obtained by the hydro-distillation of the sawdust and the chips of the wood. This scented material is very appreciated for its fixing qualities. Creators use it to bind and harmonize different woody notes together. Its tones are balsamic and smoky, and they evoke vetiver<\/a>.
