Oakmoss is a lichen. It is found on various trees such as fir, pines, willows, cedars and also some fruit trees. The oakmoss absolute is obtained by solvent extraction<\/a>. But its perfume is very complex since there are about 80 different odors, therefore no synthetic material can reproduce exactly its scent. Oakmoss has musty tones, undergrowth and leaves, and its notes are strong, earthy, damp and even smoky. It can also evokes marine note like seaweed.
