Clary sage is an herbaceous plant native to southern Europe. It is now cultivated all over the world, especially in Russia and China. This medicinal but also aromatic plant is very fragrant in its natural state. Perfumers can use its essence, obtained by steam distillation<\/a> of the plant. Extraction with volatile solvents is also possible and enables to obtain a concrete and then an absolute of clary sage.
